About Us

KEMSA was formed in 1996 after members from several EMS factions decided to unite to have a single voice for EMS in Kansas. This voice is heard not only locally and at the state level, but at the national level as KEMSA is an affiliate member of the National Association of EMTs and makes an annual trip to Call on Washington to have a voice for Kansas EMS.

KEMSA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the improvement of EMS in Kansas. KEMSA has members throughout Kansas and in surrounding states at every level of EMS.

KEMSA has always been progressive in regard to services to its members. KEMSA offers the Chronicle magazine published three times a year, this website, e-newsletters, an annual Conference and Expo, and a group buying program to name just a few benefits. View a list of membership benefits here.

KEMSA is led by a board of directors elected from its membership. In addition, KEMSA has five societies representing distinct facets of EMS - Administrators, Billers, Educators, Honor Guard, and Peer Support. Learn more about our societies here

In 2026, KEMSA introduced a new logo for the future of Kansas EMS to honor the legacy of those who came together to build the foundation of this great association and to embrace the future and what it will become.

Also, in 2026, KEMSA celebrated its 30th anniversary of being a single voice for Kansas EMS. Learn more about our history and view our photo archives on our anniversary page.
